PREP Who?

After thirty years in the competitive, rough-and-tumble arenas of regional bank commercial real estate lending and economic policy advising in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, Susan Tysklind Sweet came to Michigan to find her family roots. Landing outside of Traverse City, she earned a Michigan State Real Estate Appraiser license and Certified Residential Appraiser license, and is listed on the Appraisal Institute "Green Registry" for valuation of sustainable residential buildings .

During Susan's years in public policy, she heard, "If you can't explain a complex idea simply, you don't understand it well enough."  She started Practical Real Estate Perspectives (PREP) to apply that maxim to real estate appraisals and consulting assignments.

Susan was awarded a B.A. with Honors from the University of Chicago and an M.B.A from the University of Virginia's Darden School.  Her years in commercial real estate lending gave her a thorough understanding of all types of properties.  Her years on The Hill, including as a Senate Banking Committee staffer, exposed her to financial issues as broad as the role of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, to how banks and credit unions serve their markets, and the innovative ways Federal Reserve monetary policy changed since the Great Recession.

Vivian J. Wilson is a top-performing residential real estate broker in Oakland County, Michigan. Recently, clients started bringing her a new issue: How can they manage the challenge of moving parents from a house that carries so many connections and memories for all -- and often comprises a large amount of their personal wealth? This emerging problem of working through family transitions needs an answer -- and that's what she intends to provide through PREP's solution consulting.

Vivian was awarded a B.A. from Hillsdale College, and has supplemented her formal education with many hours of professional training.
